Christopher Pop-In-Kins Christmas Book Set
The ask: Update a 25 year old Northeast Ohio Christmas tradition book-set.
The work: Using my background as an Associate Creative Director, I set out to not only lead the creative design updates, but created 95% of the work.
The result: I energized the Christopher Pop-In-Kins creative team by reimagining the Christmas book, character, packaging, ads, and trade show design. All of this resulted in a 750% increase in sales during its first season.
My Role: Creative Director, Designer, Book Illustrator, 3D Modeler, Ad Designer, and led technical communications› with overseas vendors.

Character development

Digital models, for toy production reference, were modeled in lightwave and rendered in Strata Design 3D.

Representing at the Toy Fair in New York City

What a wonderful ride it was updating this character. From illustrating the books and meeting families, to representing Team Pop-In-Kins at the Toy Fair in New York City; the experience was priceless. I also had the opportunity to teach the young and old how they, too, could paint an awesome picture of Christopher Pop-In-Kins.
We even ruffled the feathers of a 20 year younger, and quite a bit more popular, elf that made a great living sitting on a shelf. And yes, I do agree with the overwhelming number of people who have told me over the years that Christopher is much, much cuter than that other guy.
